Master Bedroom Makeover

Project Overview:

The executive-level job of this client sends her traveling a lot, so the little time she spends at home, she wants to be able to fully relax. She hired me to replace the furniture she had hastily purchased when she first moved into her rental loft apartment with “comfortable, casual and quality pieces” that fit the industrial interior of the apartment and her taste for contemporary/ farmhouse/ cottage style. The new bed frame and headboard had to accommodate the existing Tempur-Pedic king-size adjustable base.

The room is more spacious vertically than horizontally, and to balance its proportions visually, an oversized headboard with wings was selected to occupy almost the entire focal wall. Its velvety upholstery softens the harshness of the concrete floor and exposed ducts, and the headboard’s rolled textural effect leads the eye simultaneously up and sideways. The art piece above the bed pulls together the colors found around the room. Neutral-hued storage pieces with marble tops surround the bed, nestled amid soft furnishings of wool and velvet. The graphic silhouettes of the chair and floor lamp in the reading corner boost the industrial vibe of the room.
