Meet the Owner
Owner and designer Ioana Todorova Tzatcheva was born and raised in Bulgaria and has lived in the U.S. since 1999. After a career in corporate communications, Ioana returned to her first passion: creating homes where owners feel safe, calm, rejuvenated and wowed as soon as they walk in the door.
Her communications experience at large corporations and nonprofits helped her hone her people skills, along with the ability to tell a story, to see the big picture by observing and listening, and to express her subjects’ thoughts and emotions. In many ways that’s what she does as a designer, too—she helps create a narrative for her clients’ homes that they can live with, embellish, and enjoy every day.
She discovered her love of design closer to home, while working on her own personal projects and helping friends make décor decisions. She was drawn to the creative process of building rooms that really allow life to happen. She made the jump from corporate communications to interior design when searching for something new and decided it was time for a self-reinvention.
Ioana earned a certificate from the New York Institute of Art and Design for completing its 270-hour curriculum in interior design and has received the Residential Interior Design Qualifying Certification (RIDQC), which is “the industry’s recognized indicator of proficiency in interior design principles and a designer’s commitment to the profession.” RIDQC operates in conjunction with DSA (Designer Society of America/International), the second-largest design society globally, with 14,000+ design members, students and vendors. Her design of her own home expansion won an award from the DC Metro Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. This project was also selected to be featured during The 2023 DC Metro Modern Home Tour.
Along with her design savvy, Ioana brings engaging energy, analytical approach and incredible attention to detail that ensures every project is exceptional. By thoroughly getting to know her clients, she is able to capture their personality and bring their home’s distinct character to life. Her relationship-based approach, a love of architectural details and influential travels guide her as she works with clients of various backgrounds. Her goal is to create a uniquely livable experience that is inviting and memorably beautiful.
