Children’s Room Transformation

Project Overview:

This client sought to transform an attic space into an appealing and versatile room for her two young boys. The goal was to create a shared space for sleeping, playing and studying, a room that would nurture the boys’ growth and would grow with them. The irregular shape presented a challenge, which we addressed by designing a new built-in unit, mirroring the existing one to balance the room. A durable, “flying saucer” shaped metal table provides another play surface, while echoing the Star Wars ceiling wallpaper. The large ceiling became the focal point, setting a playful tone. Under this celestial canvas, separate bed and lounge spaces allow the boys independence and togetherness, creating a space they can call their own. New task and accent lighting, including integrated LED above the desk and on the beds, adds comfort and visual interest. This attic transformation demonstrates how practical design and style can coexist.
